Here are the rules for all the games we play in this section except those where the rules are so obvious that they don't need an explanation.. It is your responsibility to become familiar with the rules before playing any of our games.
Remember, these games are for entertainment only and not meant to be taken too seriously. If you should have any conflicts with other members in the game thread, please don't try to handle it yourself. Contact one of the moderators and let us take care of it. Thank you.
The Question and Answer Game
Just like the title says, Someone asks a question
"Do you wear Nikes?"
the next player answers and then asks a new question
"No, I wear Adidas." and so on.
The Person Below Me
All you have to do is respond "true," "false" or "sometimes" if the description fits you (only one person needs to respond), then that person leaves something for the next person....
if I said "the person below me lives in a big city," you could respond "true." Then you would leave a topic for the next person such as "the person below me is a sports fan." Example:
Player 1: "The person below me lives in a big city."
Player 2: "False. The person below me is a sports fan."
Player 3 "True. The person below me drives a red car."
Connect the Stars
If I started out with Judy Garland, someone would have to connect her with another actor, then name a movie they appeared in together. The next person takes the LAST name mentioned, connects that actor with another one, and names a movie that they starred in. Here's a sample game:
Player 1: "Judy Garland and Gene Kelly--For Me and My Gal"
Player 2: "Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds--Singin' In the Rain"
Player 3: "Debbie Reynolds and Dick Van Dyke--Divorce, American Style"
Actor-Movie-Actor Game
The game begins with an actor's name. The next person has to name a movie that this actor was in. Then the next person has to name another actor from the same movie. Example:
Player 1: "Robin Williams"
Player 2: "The World According to Garp"
Player 3: "Glenn Close"
Same Name, Famous Person Game
Same Last Name Game
This game starts with a common first or last name (no unusual names such as Elvis or Moscovitz will be allowed). Each player in turn names one famous people with that same first or last name. You must use the name exactly as it is given unless the person posting that name allows variations, such as "Jim" for "James." If so, you may only use the variations that they listed even if there are other variations available. For example, Smith and Smythe are OK, but not Schmidt.
1. You can use people who are famous for any reason.
2. There will be a limit of 20 names per game.
3. The person who posts the 20th name gets to choose the name for the next game AND they will choose which (if any) variations they will allow. NOTE: it's not necessary to list the variations that you will NOT allow, but you must list the ones that you will allow.
4. Please number your responses.
5. Also, please copy and paste the previous list and add to it so that no one has to scroll back to check which names have already been used.
Word Links
In this game you are given a two-word item phrase.
Take one of those two words and add an additional word to it, while taking away the other word, to form a new two-word phrase. It doesn't matter whether your new word is in front of or behind the word link.
Example:
Beginner:
chain saw
Next person:
saw mill
Next person:
table saw
Next person:
card table
Word Association Game
This game is easy. All you have to do is to read the last post and then post the first word that pops into your head. For example:
Player 1: "Cheese"
Player 2: "Cake"
Player 3: "Birthday"
Player 4: "Party"
etc.
How Many Words Can We Make?
In this game a word or short phrase is posted. The limit is 25 letters. Then, one word at a time, we try to find 15 words from those letters. When a 15th word is posted, that poster starts a new word or phrase. Example:
The word is CONTINGENT.
Player 1:
"CONTINGENT
1.continent"
Player 2:
"CONTINGENT
1. continent
2. netting"
The 15th post might look something like this:
CONTINGENT
1. continent
2. netting
3. Intent
4. tinge
5. content
6. ton
7. conning
8. tonic
9. tent
10. cent
11. gent
12. netting
13. cogent
14. innocent
15. octet
What Movie Are These 3 People In?
In this game you list 3 Actors or actresses who appeared together in a movie. The other players then try to guess the name of the movie. Example:
Post 1: Adam Sandler + Rodney Dangerfield + Harvey Keitel
Post 2: Little Nicky
The person who identifies the movie continues the game by naming three more actors.
You can use any movie including animated ones. The only thing that you don't want to do is name three actors that are in more than one movie together. So you would not say "Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher" since they did three movies together. NO made-for-TV movies. Also, avoid actors whose roles are listed as "Uncredited," or "Scenes Cut from Release." Please also avoid actors who have only one film to their credit as this makes it difficult to continue the game.
IMDb.com will be our main source for accuracy. Please try not to duplicate movies.
