Warner Archive has not released "A WOMAN OF AFFAIRS" yet. Undoubtedly, the Carl Davis score is a major stumbling block. His scores simply put, don't come cheap. However, on Arte Network in France they have played this film with the original William Axt-David Mendoza 1928 recorded track. So it does exist, and the Arte presentation is probably a more recent transfer than the Thames edition which was produced way back in 1984. So in other words Warner's has to have both versions, and they could put it out through the archive with the vintage track rather than Carl Davis? In this case, despite my love of Carl's music, I actually prefer the Metro-tone track. TCM only runs the film with Davis score, but the opening and closing Thames Silents credits have been removed for whatever reason? Here is a glimpse of the movie with the Axt-Mendoza arrangement, which included an original song "Love's First Kiss". You can hear the beautiful melody in the portion where Diana (Garbo) and Neville (Gilbert), revisit the tree of there childhood. The audio is just slightly out of synch probably due to the flash video format upload conversion that Youtube uses.

I clicked on the link but was confused when I couldn't find any Crawford or Garbo movies on the schedule. Then I realized the thread was from February. Oh, well. I love the photos of young Garbo and Joan Crawford. People think of JC as "Mommie Dearest," but In those days she was *tssst* HOT!
