I have been hooked into watching a lot more of HGTV than I ever thought I would, and now I have a very special show this is on for the summer months only on Monday nights, it's called "My Yard Goes Disney".
People who visit either of the Disney parks, California or Florida, have a chance to enter to have their backyards transfored into a miniature Disney adventure by the fine folks at Disney Imagineering.
First show of the series was last Monday, June 6, and it is a very unique kind of entertainment. I like the hosts and like what they did to that first family's backyard.
I truly would have scoffed at anyone who ever said I would get hooked on a show on HGTV, but I am learning to really love some of their shows.

I haven't watched much HGTV since I associate them with home improvement and gardening shows, neither or which interest me a great deal. It's nice to know that their programming is actually more diverse than that. My worst nightmare would be to have a back yard that looked like a Disney park!

You should really give this show a look-see. They change it to look like the parks, it is just letting the Disney Imagineering people design a backyard for the family around what favorite thing at Disneyland or Disney World that they like most.
And yes, they have really changed their programming. Most of the shows you described are now on DiY network, while HGTV now has shows like House Hunters, House Hunters International, Property Virgins, For Rent, Design on a Dime, and many, many others. Among my favorite shows on HGTV, and I can't believe that I am even talking about this network, is Property Virgins and House Hunters International.
You might want to revisit HGTV and see all the great new changes. But please on Monday evening, check out "My Yard Goes Disney", it is the most fun 30 minutes can be on television.

OK, Bill, I'll check it out. Those home improvement shows usually give me an inferiority complex because my house and yard are never going to look anywhere as nice as the ones on the show. In some cases, even the "before" pictures look nicer than my house!

Do it Yourself Network (a spin-off of HGTV) handles all those beautifying your house. I agree, I am satisfied with my home and when I see what some of these people want to do, I ask myself why. I can think of better things to do with that money.
HGTV has changed their image totally over the past two years. In fact, they are giving away a custom-built home in Colorado Springs, CO in the next few weeks, and it is free to register at HGTV.com/greenhome.
Hope you enjoy My Yard Goes Disney.

Monday night's "My Yard Goes Disney" was fabulous as they chose a family who has adopted six kids from Ethiopia and wanted they back turned into a miniature Jungle Land from Disney World.
The folks at Walt Disney Imagineering went to work, the kids were sent to Grandma's and Grandpa's home for three days and then the magic happened.
I really love this show, and have set my DVR to record it when it shows so I don't miss it.
The show is re-run several times during the week before the next new show.

I missed it, probably because I was watching 19 Kids and Counting, but I'll try to catch it on one of the reruns or see if it is available on demand.

Last night's "My Yard Goes Disney" was great!!! A young family with two adopted children, was picked to have their backyard turned into a Disney Cruise memory.
The first thing the Imagineers did was take out their covered patio area that had been built on poorly and then they put in a pool and hot tub in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head and ears. Then they added a light house with a spiral slide that went into the water.
This family had been on a Disney Cruise on the ship "Disney Dreams" and so their backyard was turned into a minature deck of the cruise ship.
When it was all done, it was amazing, and the family was brought to tears when they saw the final product unveiled three days after the initial day of demolition of their patio area.
I am really liking this show a lot. It is only on for about eight more weeks, so I plan on watching every one of them.

Tonight is the fourth episode in this summer show "My Yard Goes Disney".
People who have been to Disneyland in California, Disney World in Florida or on a Disney Cruise have the opportunity to film a request to have their yard redone by the folks at Disney Imagineering.
It is on at 8pm Eastern and Pacific time on HGTV and so far, the first three episodes have been really great.
Give this program a look. It is only 30 minutes long and is definitely worth watching, in my opinion.

The theme of this week's "My Yard Goes Disney" was the "Pirates of the Caribbean " ride at Disneyland and Disney World.
It was fun to watch the Disney people turn what was once a plain back yard into a miniature world of Disney adventure complete with a splash pool and water cannons and a place for the adults to sit and watch the kids while enjoying the outdoor barbecue and whatever else was going on in the yard.
Hope that you are giving this a look. Monday nights at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times and 7 Central on HGTV.

Just watched tonight's episode of "My Yard Goes Disney" on HGTV!! C'mon everyone, get on board with this show. It is on at 8 pm on HGTV and it is well worth missing any other show you might want to watch at that time.
Midge, I am counting on you to watch this show and tell me that you don't like it. It is really a very entertaining show and you will be hooked on for the next few weeks that it is on.

OK, OK, I'll watch it! Al likes to watch news at 8pm, but maybe this show will be repeated later in the evening or available on demand. So far I haven't had any luck finding it in our On Demand menu, but I'll keep trying.

Who the heck in the Bay Area does News at 8 pm. I know there are a couple of stations that have their news programs one hour earlier than everyone else, but at 8 pm, that has got to be some different type news show.
HGTV "My Yard Goes Disney" is repeated several times during the week, and even on Mondays it is repeated twice later in the evening. Don't think it is available on On Demand, at least here in Wichita we don't have HGTV On Demand.

Who the heck in the Bay Area does News at 8 pm. I know there are a couple of stations that have their news programs one hour earlier than everyone else, but at 8 pm, that has got to be some different type news show. My former employer KRON does an hour of news at 8 pm. I can tell you for a fact that the news really does come on at that time because I used to work on the studio crew. Various other stations have news at 4 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm, 7pm, 10 pm and 11 pm. The only time during the evening when there isn't a news program on is between 7:30 and 8 pm. and 11:30 to midnight! There must be some serious news junkies in the Bay Area! I believe that My Yard Goes Disney is repeated at midnight on Monday. The reason I haven't seen it before is that I usually go to the gym at 8 pm on Monday nights, but due to the holiday the Y was closed. So I finally did watch the show, strictly as a favor to you. It was OK, not really something I would be interested in, though.

I think if we came home and found our yard had "Gone Disney" Herb would definately cry - tears of anger and rage.

I think if we came home and found our yard had "Gone Disney" Herb would definately cry - tears of anger and rage. That's exactly how I feel, Diane! By the way, I did finally see an episode of "My Yard Goes Disney." It was moderately interesting but I probably won't watch it again. I think I actually liked the family's back yard more in its natural state, before they Disney-fied it.
