I had the chance to watch GHOST STORY the other day. With a talented cast including FRED ASTAIRE, DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS JR, MELVYN DOUGLAS & JOHN WESTINGHOUSE I thought it would be a movie worth watching. It is based on the novel by Peter Straub. I have to say, it is definitely your standard 80’s horror film. Poorly developed with a few thrills and several nude scenes. I really wish that they had focused more on the actual plot and less on the female anatomy of actress Alice Krige or male physique of actor Craig Wesson. I realize that the intimacy between the two characters was important to the movie but could have been done more tastefully. From the reviews that I had read I was hoping to see a well thought out movie with talented actors. The actors did the best job they could but the production crew dropped the ball. I was disappointed with the movie in general. I am going to try to find the book and read it then watch the film again. Maybe that will help me better enjoy it.

Hi gina, I can remember seeing "Ghost Story" - not at the movies but I think it was one of the very first videos we hired. I think the novelty was seeing Fred Astaire, Douglas Fairbanks Jnr and Melvyn Douglas in a new movie but I can't recall much about it so it can't have been very memorable. I recently read a quite scathing review of it - in "The Universal Story". No actor escaped with praise.
