Don't know how many of you watched Simon Cowell's new show, "The X Factor" this past Wednesday and Thursday, but it proved to be a very rubber-stamp version of the "American Idol" auditions and not like "The Voice" auditions.
Cowell still insists on making us sit through the untalented people who think they have talent, while he and the other judges berate them for showing up.
L.A Reid, renowned writer, producer for Def Jam records, was pretty put-off by all the non-talent, and if the first two shows are any indication, he and Cowell are going to be at each others throats for the season.
Along with Cowell and Reid are Nicole Sherzinger, recording star in her own right, and Paula Abdul filling out the rest of judging panel.
After the first weeks of auditions, the judges will then pick their teams, a boys team, girl's team, and a group team. They will then do what "The Voice" did, and have the each group perform in front of the judges once more and be eliminated down to the final 12, before the contestants will perform before the 'live' national audience for their votes.
This all going to take place in the next few weeks with the Finale scheduled for the week before Christmas.
Of the four hours of auditions this week, there were only a handful of memorable acts who were picked for the show. The age limit for this show is the contestant has to be at least 13 years of age, and there is no limit as to how old they can be. With that parameter it really opens things up for a lot of undiscovered talent to come to the front. Of the acts chosen this week one was 13 and one was 42, and the rest fell in between those ages.
The show is broadcast on Fox and is derived from Simon Cowell's British television show of the same name.
To me, it was another version of "American Idol" and not as good. But we will see how this first season goes.
