My wife and I have been working our way through the series Burn Notice on Netflix streaming. We're in the end of the fourth season and have really enjoyed this spy series. It's kind of a little like Mission Impossible in many ways or the A-Team except with the premise of rogue ex-spies who turn the tables on the bad guys. I have to say I have found the writing to be pretty good. It has a good balance of action, humor, romance to make it quite entertaining television. It has Bruce Campbell, who I love, in a secondary role but he is such a great actor I always enjoy his screen time. Unfortunately season five is not available on DVD yet and so not available for streaming either.
So, does anyone else enjoy the series?

I think I may have seen one or two episodes of this at my in-laws, Kevin, but I haven't really been able to see it regularly. I don't presently have satellite and I tried out the 1-month free trial on Netflix but they just didn't seem to offer a variety of things that interest my wife and I both. I used to love Netflix back in the day when shipping DVDs via mail was their primary business, but it seems to have changed quite a bit. This trial of mine was around the middle of last year, so maybe they've added more to their library for streaming since then, but at the time, neither of us were very impressed any longer.

I hear ya Larry. They lost their contract with Spruz so their online streaming movie database is smaller but they have enlarged their TV show library. We don't have cable or satellite and so this has proved a pretty good option for us. They have all of the Star Trek shows! ;D Kevin

Kevin, I own all four seasons of "Burn Notice" and will say that it is my favorite television show. I have never missed a show when it is aired and I really like it enough to purchase the Season sets as they are released.
Also there is the movie "Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe" that you should see if you like Bruce Campbell as much as I do. This movie belongs to Bruce Campbell 100% and there is a small cameo in the opening sequence by Michael Weston.
Look for Season Five to be released sometime in August, and Season Six will be on USA beginning in September 2012.
Incidentally, have you seen "The Aventures of Brisco County Jr." starring Bruce Campbell and his wonder horse Comet? This series was only on for one season on Fox, but ic considered to be a classic by Bruce Campbell followers. If Netflix has it, watch it, you won't be sorry. It is really a very good show.

Thanks a lot for the info! Is the Sam Axe movie on the season four discs? Or do you think it will be in season five? I have not found that on Netflix. I'll look and see if they have Brisco County. I appreciate the heads up. Did you watch Xena? Campbell's recurring guest role in that was always hilarious.

"Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe" was a direct to video movie after it was premiered on USA just prior to beginning of Season Five. The movie is available at Wal-Mart and Target for a pretty cheap price ($9.99). In fact, I have seen it in Wal-Mart's $5 bins in a couple of stores in Wichita. (We have Nine, count 'em Nine Wal-Mart Superstores in Wichita, all open 24 hours a day.
I loved "Xena" for more reasons than Bruce Campbell's appearances and have all the Season sets on DVD.
If you can't locate "Brisco County Jr." through Netflix (which I don't care for at all, but that's me) Amazon has a streaming service that looks to be pretty inexpensive. For me, I would rather have the physical discs in hand to watch whenever I want, however I want. "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr." is expensive to buy new or used. It's that popular. I have seen sets on eBay go for in excess of $100 and most of the used DVD stores in Wichita have it for around $35.
Will keep you in our prayers, and hope that you live a long life enjoying those good things. Nice to hear from you. I really miss the old Golden Age of Hollywood guys and gals.

Yea...I loved Xena for may ways than just Bruce Campbell as well. I think it has to be one of the funniest and best shows of the 90s. It's campy but I like camp. It had everything...drama, action, adventure, fantasy, romance and even musicals for cryin' out loud!
I do appreciate the prayers! It's not been a fun last year that's for sure. Four months of radiation treatments and trying to deal with the side effects of the treatment then, and since, but things are improving slowly.
I too miss the old GAOH message board but times change as they say. Some of the old members are at the new social network site. I can't believe that Derek and I have kept GGAOH going for four years at the old site and just over four years now at the social network. Man how time files!
