I hope you were watching last night as "The Grammys Salute to The Beatles 50th Anniversary" show was presented with an all-star lineup of musical guests paying tribute to the night that changed the world of our music - February 9, 1964, The Beatles First American Appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Highlight of the show was the official reunion of the two surviving Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Other artists on the show included Katy Perry, Stevie Wonder, Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Joe Walsh, Dave Grohl, and so many more. It was a two and one half hour tribute to The Fab Four and I, personally, can't think of one song in The Beatles repertoire that wasn't done on the show.
I DVR'd the show so I can watch it over and over again. It brought back a lot of memories, and brought me to tears once in a whle as the songs were done perfectly. I will always cherish the memories I have of John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
In 1963, while stationed in Paris, France in the US Army, working for the US Armed Forces Radio & Television network, I was among four of the deejays that were asked to take part in a show at the Paris Olympia that feauted The Beach Boys, Trini Lopez, and a little-known group from Liverpool, England, The Beatles. I was the lucky one who got to meet them in person, and introduce them on stage. Memories like this will always be there to remind me that music of the 60's would probably never have been the same without The Beatles.

Oh no, I missed the whole thing! Maybe they'll replay it. I can see why it meant so much more to you, Bill. When the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan, I didn't even bother to watch because (as a 15-year-old high school sophomore who thought of myself as a budding intellectual) I was convinced the whole "yeah-yeah-yeah" Beatlemania thing was a silly, childish fad. Oh, well! Live and learn.

CBS will replay the Beatles special tonight at 8.30, but I have to go to the gym, so I am still going to miss most of it. Drat!

You will get your chance to see this great show, as CBS has announced that they will repeat this Salute to the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles twice more in the coming months.
Just so you know, all of the ratings of the 8 plus hours of Olympics that were shown that day, combined, could not touch the ratings for The Beatles show. It apparently has ratings almost double that of the combined ratings of the Olympics.
Television coverage of the Winter Olympics is getting killed by re-runs of other shows. Not a lot of people are watching this time around, and I think a lot of it is political because they don't want to support Putin and all of his Russian counterparts.
I was sad to see Shawn White didn't "three-peat" with his half-pipe performance and the guy they call "I-Pod" beat him soundly. Shawn came in out of the running in fourth place.

Oh, good. I am glad that the Beatles tribute will be repeated again because I didn't see any of it last night.
One of my Facebook friends has commented that she won't watch the Olympics because of Putin's policies, but I'm not the political type, and I don't care. I just want to see exciting winter sports. Yes, it was too bad about Shaun White, though I don't really care that much about nationalities, and I care even less about snowboarding. Just give me lots of skiing and figure skating!
