Wow, 41 years! That is a long marriage. After their Hollywood careers ended, they moved to England and had a very popular radio show there, IIRC.

They certainly did, I used to listen to it when I was a very young child in the early 50s. A running gag in the show was the way that Ben Lyon would always slip in a reference or two about "Hells Angels"

There was a movie of their's on the other night "Hi, Gang" (1941) made in England - although it was supposed to be set in New York. At the end there was a mock- up of their radio show and they were really witty. I laughed out loud a most of their jokes.

I wish I could have seen that, Diane. I've always wondered what their radio show was like.

Another long lasting marriage from Hollywood was Craig Stevens star of Peter Gunn and his wife Alexis Smith who was in many movies and TV shows They were married for almost 50 years. Married 1944 to June 1993 when Alexis Smith passed away.

That is a long time. Alexis Smith always looked so beautiful and sophisticated. I think she was quite young when she started but she always looked older (in a very nice way of course.)

I know what you mean, Diane. Alexis had a wry, aristocratic air about her that made her seem wise beyond her years.
This was a marriage in name only, but George Raft and Grayce Mulroney were married from 1923 until her death in 1970. He left her after their wedding night, IIRC. Raft romanced many of Hollywood's most glamorous stars but always claimed that he couldn't remarry because Grayce refused to give him a divorce.

I love George Raft. I suppose there are two sides to everything (I am trying to make allowances for him).(What does IIRC mean?) I was reading somewhere else about Errol Flynn's wife Lili Damita - how she refused to marry until he died - something to do with alimony. Quite unfair for him if its true. Apparently she married shortly after he died.

Yes, that was true about Lili Damita. She bled Errol dry with her constant demands. "IIRC" stands for, If I Remember Correctly.

I can't say that I realized Craig Stevens and Alexis Smith were married. I liked both of them (although I never paid mind to them until their later years, however). In fact, they made guest appearances on a few of those U.S. prime-time "soap operas" — Dallas or Dynasty, or both, whichever.

I don't think you're wrong, Kelly. People are so self-centered these days. When a marriage no longer gives pleasure, these people don't try very hard to fix it. They just dump their spouses and get new ones. Weddings are no more sacred than buying a car. Tired of the old model? Get a new one.

OH I see well I think in yesterday Hollywood movie moguls want their stars stick together President Reagan mention once that Jack Warner him and Jane Wyman stick together he told Jack marriage is not saluable so divorce was quick and easy they have arrangement for custory of their children Maureen and future talk show host Michael Reagan
Yeah you are so right Midge Hollywood so self centered I predict sadly but true Angelie Jolie would most likely break up with Brad Pitt once her career stall or something
She seem self centered

It seems like the new Hollywood changes spouses as often as they chance their movie roles. I have heard oh a few that are "long time marriages" like actor/comedian Dennid Leary. He was just saying on one of the talk shows he was on, that he and his wife had been married for 20ish years.
