As Roger will doubtless confirm, the character of Mr Blobby was originally launched on the BBC's flagship Saturday evening show Noel's House Party. The idea being to trick celebrities into thinking that they were recording an episode of a new kids' show. At the end of the sketch the show's host, Noel Edmonds, would reveal himself and present a 'Gotcha Oscar' to the unfortunate guest. This was very funny to start off with but unfortunately they didn't know when to stop.

This was very funny to start off with but unfortunately they didn't know when to stop. And neither did Edmonds's parents. Actually I found "Blobby" very amusing, I loved the manic look which he would display when he was about to do something outrageous. You couldn't see the eyes of the person who was "Blobby" but there was something very distinct about the limited body language that he was able to display. I liked it that Edmonds had obviously given him so much freedom to run riot.

I find Taylor Swift's "You Belong with Me" to be very annoying, esp. since it's being played so often on the radio or at the gym. In general, I hate songs with the theme "I'm so much better than your girlfriend; dump her and get with me," which includes "Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend Were Hot Like Me," or whatever that other song is called.

Doesn't it seem as if the songwriters have run out of inspiration? The same 12 ideas get repeated endlessly over the years: 1. I love you 2. I don't love you 3. I used to love you, but I don't any more. 4. You used to love me, but you don't any more. 5. We loved each other, but now we don't. 6. You'll be sorry. 7. You won't be sorry. 8. I'll be sorry. 9. Go away. 10. Don't go away. 11. Change your ways. 12. Stay the same. That's basically it.

I can also say that the "Chicken Dance" has been around for a long time. When I used to DeeJay parties back in the late 80's we started teaching the Chicken Dance. This was way before my nomination for the MOST ANNOYING song ever: "The Macarena", this reminded me a poor man's version of "The Bunny Hop", and I knew that it wouldn't last.

Agghh! I have forgotten all about Mr Blobby! I remember when that was number 1. And The Birdie Song was awful! It may have been a hit in 1981 (and therefore I wouldn't remember it) but it was a big party hit all throughout the 80s. In my childhood memories I have visions of drunk adults with big hair and huge shoulder padded clothing getting up to dance whenever that song came on.

I will second the nominations of The Macarena and Barbie Girl. Both of those songs make me want to hurt someone. I also hate to listen to Mariah Carey sing just about anything. That woman really grinds on my nerves. (Apologies to any Mariah fans here). It's the way she sings! She has to show off every note she can sing in every line of song! Yes Mariah, we know you have a huge range, but enough with the histrionics already! Agghh! I also really dislike her tone when she does try to sing "quietly". It's really whispery and annoying. I actually don't mind Whitney Houston songs, as long as they're the older ones from the 80s. Another thing that annoys me with female singers today is that they all seem to employ the same trick - "breaking" their voices at the beginning of a new line ...to make it sound more emotional or something. I don't know. The singer Pink does it all the way through every line she sings. Listen to her song "Family Portrait" and you'll see what I mean by "breaking" her voice. Anyway, if they'd sung that way 50 or 60 years ago, their producers would've told them to go home, get over the laryngitis, and come back next week! ;D
