Oh yeah, so it was. I forgot all about that, though I would have thought about it in a day or two probably! Thanks for bringing that up, Kimmer!

How many of us were alive and old enough to remember what we were doing when we heard the news? I was at work that day. ABC News did a special on Elvis's death that came on at 11:30 after the late news. For the closing theme, they used "Are You Lonely Tonight?" over a montage of Elvis stills and video. The song took on a whole new meaning, and even now I can't listen to it without remembering the day Elvis died.

I remember it, I just can't recall what I was doing. It seems as though I was getting ready for school that morning (or maybe the next morning) when I'd heard it on the radio, I believe.

I can remember hearing the news and I can remember where I was, not that it was memorably shocking for me in the manner of the assassination of President Kennedy. With Elvis's death I didn't feel any shock or loss as I did with the death of John Lennon which was a few years later, I suppose that's because I felt involved with the music of The Beatles whereas I liked some of Elvis's records (1955- 1962) but I wouldn't say that I was a fan of his.

I liked the early Elvis, once he got those bushy sideburns and the white jumpsuits, well, forget it.... I do like some of his films tho such as "Viva Las Vegas." I was going to say what I was doing when I heard he died, I must've gotten sidetracked. I was doing dishes and listening to the radio when they announced it. I was shocked. Not too long before his death, the "Elvis, What happened?" book by some of his entourage had come out and it mentioned his drug use, etc.

Wow,that was along time ago, since. Elvis was just starting when I was born and died when OUR oldest son,was six months old. And Dean's 23rd birthday, also. Time has gone by fast. Wonder what he would of thought about ALOT of things of today? Knowing him,he would of kept up with everything.
