What would you say is the best television commercial on today?
(saying none of them is not fair)

Good question, Hallway. I'll have to start paying more attention. These days I mostly hit the Mute button when the commercials start.  One that I have liked shows an older woman getting dressed up for a wedding. You see her fussing over her adult daughter, so of course the assumption is that she is the mother of the bride. Then the ceremony starts, and the camera pulls out to reveal that it's the mom who is getting married. I like that one because I am turning 60 this year. What I don't like about it is that the product is Poise.   |

One of my favorites, and I do have many, are the Bush's Baked Beans commercials where the family dog is plotting to sell the 'secret' recipe. Those are so original, and I really pay attention when they are on.

All a commercial has to have is a dog and my wife melts. Especially Jack Russell's.
For me, I like a well performed and well written singing commercial with no voice over. Although I have particular favorites, nothing comes to mind right now.

There is a series of ads on in Australia for an internet company which feature a father and son.
One of them shows the son in the car asking the dad - "who built the Great Wall of China".
The dad looks very confused and then says "Rabbits - it was built to keep out the rabbits!!!"
The last scene is of the teacher saying "And now Billy will give his talk on the Great Wall of China".
He is the loveliest little boy - his face looks so full of wonder and trust. The ads are so popular -
they are like mini celebrities over here. I think the aim of the ads were to show why you should
have the internet and have knowledge at your fingertips. But watching the commercial, I think
people are thinking , you can have the knowledge - I want the relationship that that father and son
have.

That's why those commercials are so successful. They are not selling the Internet, they are selling the warm, fuzzy father-son relationship that we all wish we had.

I don't know. I gave up watching network television. nothing worth watching. The quality of television broadcasting has severely plummeted.

I like the Gico commercial where the two squirrels are in the roadway as the station wagon comes through and then severs to miss the squirrel and then the two squirrel's hit hands and high five each other.

Oh, yeah, that is a funny one. They do this squirrel giggle as they high-five, and it sounds like the Chipmunks on laughing gas.  |

If you mean the Chipmunks, their voice was done by David Seville. I am not sure how they did the squirrel giggles but it couldn't be Mr. Seville (real name Ross Bagdasarian) as he is no longer with us.
