This was a great little picture that I watched the other night! Written by Billy Wilder and Charles Brackett and directed by Mitchell Leisen, it stars Claudette Colbert, Don Ameche, John Barrymore, and Mary Astor. If you haven't seen this I highly recommend it. It starts out with Claude arriving in Paris from Monte Carlo with nothing but the clothes on her back. She meets up with Don Ameche, a Paris cab driver and they fall in love right away but she resists because she wants to marry someone rich. SO she runs away from him, sneaks into a high class party and meets this rich guy by pure accident, played by Francis Lederer. Mary Astor plays Lederer's lover and Barrymore plays Astor's husband. It's a bit complex but very good! *A funny bit of info...during the filming of this movie, Leisen decided to change some of the writing that Wilder had done and actually had him locked off the set. This led to Wilder fighting for the right to direct his own screenplays so his writing wouldn't be altered*

Great review! I haven't seen this one in years, but I remember it as being sophisticated, slightly naughty and very entertaining. Anyone who enjoyed It Happened One Night will also like this. There's a surprise ending, too.

I have seen It Happened One Night several times and enjoyed it immensely, so I guess Midnight is one I must watch, huh?! I will try to remember to look for its next listing.
