No, I was confined to the house with cold, sore throat and a fever, but I wouldn't have gone shopping anyway.
Did you buy anything on Cyber Monday?

No - just one gift for my son has been purchased.
Will you be putting up stockings for Santa this year?

No, because we haven't got a mantel.
What were your high and low temperatures yesterday?

I have no idea.
Have you seen the sun today?

No, I am recovering from a cold and haven't been outside at all.
How's the weather where you are?

Post by dvdjunkie on Dec 1, 2011 15:59:25 GMT -6
We are unseasonably warm and cool. Our high temps should be in the upper 40s and they have been in the middle to upper 50s this week, and evening lows normally should be in middle to upper 30s, and have been in upper 30s to lower 40s. Weathermen say we are going to have an unseasonably warm winter. Normal snow fall here in Wichita is 13-17" for the season between November 1 and February 15, and they are predicting less than 12" of snow for this season.
Our gas prices have been under $3 a gallon for the past several weeks, what are the gas prices in your area?

Post by Midge on Dec 2, 2011 0:02:39 GMT -6
San Francisco has some of the highest gas prices in the U.S. The last time I checked our neighborhood station, I think it was something like $3.98 a gallon. It's somewhat cheaper in other parts of California.
What did you have for dinner last night?

Past Roni white shells and cheese
What did you have for breakfast this morning?

I had a bowl of Kashi Go Lean cereal with 1% milk and banana slices, low-sodium V-8 juice and decaf coffee. (How boring is that? ) Have you or anyone in your family caught the cold or flu yet this season?

Yes, I think we all have.
Did you or anyone in your family get sick on Thanksgiving weekend?

Not really...........I'm knocking on wood at this point.......we are generally pretty healthy from Thansgiving through the Christmas holiday season.
What is your best memory of Christmases past?
Post by Midge on Dec 4, 2011 18:56:02 GMT -6
A few days after Christmas, 1963. I had just turned 15. I was taken to a family gathering by my aunt and uncle and there was reunited with my mother, whom I hadn't seen or talked to since I was 11.
Do you divide your time between your own family and your in-laws during the holidays?

No, I don't have any relatives around here so if we go anyplace it's with my husband's family.
Do you plan to have overnight guests at your house this Christmas?
Post by Midge on Dec 5, 2011 3:35:55 GMT -6
No, there isn't really any room for guests at my house unless you want to sleep on the floor in the den.
Have you baked any Christmas cookies yet?

No, I will probably do that in a couple of weeks.
Do you serve turkey, ham, or something else for Christmas dinner?
Post by Midge on Dec 5, 2011 17:27:24 GMT -6
I'll roast a turkey breast on Christmas Eve and have the leftovers for Christmas Day so I don't have much kitchen work to do.
What do you usually have for Christmas dinner?

Turkey since my husband always gets a free one from work, the side dishes and dessert vary depending on what we have on hand and what sounds good. Do you have a favorite New Year's Eve snack?
Post by Midge on Dec 7, 2011 2:00:51 GMT -6
I like to indulge in salty snacks that taste good with Champagne. We don't usually eat potato chips, but on New Year's Eve I'll splurge on a bag of Tim's Cascade potato chips and make a batch of California onion dip to go with it.
What do you usually serve on New Year's Eve?

Nothing in particular since we seldom do anything about New Year's Eve. Maybe go out to dinner if we're feeling lazy. How early do you usually get up on New Year's Day?

Never tried it, but it looks yummy. Do you like pecan pie?
Post by Midge on Dec 7, 2011 20:29:30 GMT -6
I LOVE pecan pie, but it's so cholesterol-ific and fat-o-rific that I haven't had any in ages. But now that you've put the idea in my head, maybe I"ll splurge for Christmas!
Have you ever made your own egg nog? (It's good!)
Post by dvdjunkie on Dec 12, 2011 7:23:22 GMT -6
We do! Every year our son-in-law, who is the brewmaster of the house, concocts his own version of Egg Nog, and compared to what you buy in the store, this stuff is high above in quality and taste.
Do you watch the Rose Parade or something else on New Year's Day?
Post by annavandenhazel on Dec 12, 2011 20:02:40 GMT -6
I seldom watch anything on New Year's Day, other than whatever my son or husband choose, and it's never the Rose Parade.
Do you like to watch football on New Year's Day?
Post by dvdjunkie on Dec 20, 2011 8:32:55 GMT -6
I used to, but now they have all the Bowl games spread over two weeks with the major ones after New Year's Day. That really sucks!!!!
Do you have any plans for New Year's Eve this year?

Nope, unless you count sleeping. What kind of Christmas tree do you have (real, artificial, none)?
Post by Midge on Dec 22, 2011 4:05:42 GMT -6
It's a real tree -- small, but real.
Do you have any outside lights or decorations?
Post by dvdjunkie on Dec 22, 2011 19:10:05 GMT -6
Oh yes!!! My son-in-law works hard every year to get everything lit up about two weeks before Thanksgiving so it is ready to go the first weekend of December. This year we added a lighted sleigh with reindeer.
Do you watch anything besides sports on television during the holidays??
