Midge, I thought this would be a good gag, but so far few are looking? The photo is from a Western made in 1923. I have forgotten the title. Here is another great still from a film I'd love to see. Emil Jannings and Esther Ralston BETRAYAL (1929)

It's a holiday weekend here in the States, so everyone is probably out having picnics and shooting off fireworks. Esther looks so pretty, but where the heck did Emil get that tie!

It does look interesting. He certainly had some diverse roles before he went back to Germany.

Larry has a telephone just like that. It looks like Mr. Arlen is trying to prevent Miss Ralston from making a call.

The tie seems to go with Esther's shawl.

I see a picture there from "The Lucky Devil", a film I recently watched. It starred Richard Dix and Esther and was a fun film from start to finish! She also wrote a fairly good autobiography which I have. Only problem is, if you wish to buy a copy you'll have to spend upwards of over $100: evidently it's a quite rare commodity.

Not so there Michael. You can get a copy on DVD-R from Grapevine Video for only $14.95. Here is a link: www.grapevinevideo.com/Lucky_Devil.htmlKevin

Kevin, it's not clear in R. Michael's post whether the "rare commodity" is The Lucky Devil or the book. I have a feeling, though, that Esther's autobiography is what is rare.

My interpretation is that it's probably the book.
