Because of its marvelous showing at the Oscars, the distributors have pushed back the release date of "The Artist" on Blu-ray and DVD from March 27 to the last Tuesday in April.
This is one movie that I think everyone should have in their collection. It is the biggest surprise that Hollywood could make such a remarkable movie that is so refreshing to see again and again. Have seen this movie in the theater three times, and am waiting anxiously for April so I can add "The Artist" to my collection.
It will join my Blu-ray copy of "Wings" the first movie to win the Best Picture award. Almost seven minutes that have been missing since the original release back in the 20's have been found and meticulously restored. I really like this film also.

I read on line today that the owner of Uggie the dog, who stole every scene in The Artist, will be retired from film due to unspecified neurological problems. What a shame. Uggie, a Jack Russell terrier who was born in 2002, is simply amazing. His owner, a professional dog trainer, rescued him from the pound, where he had been taken because he was wild, crazy and energetic. The trainer intended only to foster him until a home could be found for him, but wound up keeping him instead. Uggie's bold personality proved to be an asset in movie-making because movie dogs have to be fearless. They can't be intimidated by distractions such as the moving camera or bright lights. Uggie had two "stunt doubles" but they were hardly used since the dog did nearly all his stunts himself.
