I read the book in two long sittings and was fascinated by it. I look forward to seeing the film. I rarely, if ever, sit and read a modern novel. This not only was an exception, it was exceptional. Really well done. I find it simply over the top amazing that people all the way up to the papacy are so embroiled in bruhaha over it, though. It's a good read. That's all. And, as for taking the book at face value: Brother, has no one ever read a novel before?? Anyway, my wife and I will see the film sometime soon.

I don't know, but the critics don't seem to like it. Anyway, so many people have read the book, so it ought to become a success.

The book is very controversial. It is on the list of forbidden books from the Catholic Church. I know that a friend of mine is bothered that Ron Howard and Tom Hanks attached themselves to the film because of it. According to imdb.com/ The Da Vinci Code is # 1 at the box office. I’d like to see it, but will probably wait for Pay per view or rental.

I am not really in to the movies that have to do with jesus unless one of my freinds say its good. I seen pervous on this movie. So I well have to see this one. I think the hole mystery thing with movies make them even better.

I also read the book and I found it to be very entertaining. As far as the movie goes, I'm not much of a Tom Hanks fan. There is just something about him that bugs me. Not to say that he isn't a terrific actor. I think that I will wait for this one to come out on rental as well. My brother DID see the movie and he said that it stuck really close to the novel and that they did a good job with it. Apparently Dan Brown was on the set during the filming of this movie so it's probably not bad....

I like Tom Hanks, but a good friend of mine read the book and didn't like it She thought it was terribly overrated. So I have no interest in either the book or the movie.

I haven't seen the film but we had the book for bookclub. I love to read so I was quite demoralised when I struggled to get through 90 pages before giving up - especially when a lot of people had said what a page turner it was. So I don't think you have missed anything Midge.

Thanks, Diane! You just made my whole day. ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) I had been feeling vaguely guilty over not having read the book or seen the movie. Good or bad, The Da Vinci Code has been a hot topic over the last year. I've been feeling out of the loop because I have no idea what everyone's so fired up about.

I finally rented this about a month ago. Being an open-minded person, I found it quite interesting. The “controversial” information that every one was worried about wasn’t anything that I hadn’t heard about on documentaries on the history channel or the discovery channel. The author of the book, spent many years researching and investigating the new texts that was being studied by biblical scholars and didn’t put anything in the book and subsequent movie that didn’t have legitimate documentation that could back it up. I have to say, I had to do a lot of explaining to Lonnie when he watched it. That was mostly because he has little background in anything biblical. Tom Hanks did a wonderful performance as well as Ian McKellen. The disturbing character played by Paul Bettany was unforgettable. My Mother is reading the book and I intend to get it from her one I finish one of books that I am currently reading.
