First I will say that I am not a very big fan of remakes, especially when they take a classic film like "Cheaper By the Dozen" and ruin it as they did a couple of years ago, or ruin the image of "Dr. Doolittle" like they did with that dumb Eddie Murphy clunker. That being said, I will say that the new version of 3:10 TO YUMA is really a very good film, and probably the best western made since Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven". The characters are given some real depth, and the cast is quite good. Christian Bale (Batman Begins, The Prestige) stars in the same role that Van Heflin played in the original 1957 film, as Dan Evans, a poor dirt farmer who is trying to keep his farm from being repossessed by the bank. Russell Crowe is Ben Wade - the role played by Glenn Ford in the original - and he brings a new meaning to the words 'a nice bad guy'. There are several great supporting roles in the movie, but the one that stands out above them all is Ben Foster, as the evil Charlie Prince, the hitman for Ben Wade. If you like a good movie and especially a good western, then 3:10 TO YUMA will not disappoint. It is rated 'R' for the graphic violence, but don't let that keep you away from the film. It tells a great story and is a throwback to the westerns of old. I recommend it very highly. On my rating scale I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png)
