Had the pleasure of being in the company of one of America's great Astronauts at the Hyatt this week, and got to ride along with them to a movie theater that was giving a special presentation of "Ron Howard Presents In The Shadow Of The Moon" a new documentary directed by David Sington, about the Apollo Space Missions and our man in the moon programs. My benefactor was the last man to walk on the moon, Gene Cernan, and it was pleasure to hear stories about his adventures as a astronaut in the US Space Program. The documentary tells the story of the United States Space Program as instituted by then President John F. Kennedy. His dream of a man walking on the moon was fulfilled after his death. This movie covers all phases of our space program but specializes in the Apollo Moon Launches. It has a lot of humor, and a lot of tragedy as it covers the fiery deaths of our first three Apollo astronauts on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral. This film will show in very limited release, but will be out on DVD sometime in January of 2008. I can highly recommend this film to all of those interested in our space programs.

Thanks for the review, Bill. This sounds like a documentary that's well worth seeking out.
