The full-length title of this film is "The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford" and stars Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck as the two main characters. For you history buffs out there, this movie is about as close as one can get to the actual events that led up to the death of the outlaw Jesse James (Brad Pitt). Casey Affleck is remarkable in this western as the affable Robert Ford, as he and his brother try to join the infamous James Gang. There is lots of action, and a brilliant musical score that never over-rides the movie. While this film clocks in at just under three hours in length (ooops, Larry just left the room) you will never notice it. I have seen this film twice now, and each time it seems shorter. If you like westerns that tell a good story, and have a lot of history behind them (Like "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid) then this movie is just the ticket for an afternoon of pleasure. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I like biographical movies about the old "gangsters" and outlaws from way-back-when such as the James brothers; Bonnie and Clyde; Belle Starr, etc. This sounds like a must-see movie! (ooops, Larry just left the room) ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) 8-)I think I could probably handle sitting that long to watch this type of movie! ;D :uhuh:

This movie got terrible reviews. It is always interesting to me when people enjoy a movie but reviewers pan it.
This reminds me of a story about my great-grandmother, Lillian. In the 1880's she was a teenage girl living on her father's farm in the Midwest. One afternoon Lillian was interrupted by a sweaty, nervous-looking stranger who demanded that she prepare lunch for him. She did as she was told, and the stranger left in a hurry. She thought no more about it until a few days later when she saw the front page of the newspaper. The headline said that Jesse James was on the run after robbing a bank. She immediately recognized the picture as the stranger she had prepared lunch for.

That's a very interesting story Midge and that must have been rather scary for your great-grandmother. It's very easy to see that this happened a long time ago. If Jesse James were around today and tried that sort of thing he would probably happen upon a feminist activist. "WHAT, cook lunch for you? I don't think so you gun-toting pig. If you want something to eat then get it yourself" ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)
