Now I haven't seen this documentary but I saw a fascinating review - has anyone seen this film or heard of this child? Marla Olmstead was only 4 and heralded as a child prodigy. Her modern art paintings have earned her hundreds of thousands of dollars. "60 Minutes" did a critical story on her and suggested that her "art" was helped along by her father, who was an amateur painter. Amir Bar Lev was already half- way through the documentary when the "60 Minute" segment aired and apparently the tone of the documentary changed after that. He said that when the cameras were on her she painted just like a child but when she was not being filmed she produced her "masterpieces". The reviewers said it was such an interesting documentary but one of them felt it was a betrayal of trust. That the family had invited this film-maker to their home to make a film about their daughter and he had turned it around to make them look as if they had something to hide. The other one said that's what makes a good documentary - it makes you think. What does everyone think?

Diane, I have not seen the documentary either, but I remember reading about the controversy that arose from the 60 Minutes story. If it is true that the little girl is not a prodigy but is being exploited by her father for publicity, it would be very sad for that little girl, and shame on the parents for doing this to her. I hope the documentary will uncover the truth, whatever it may be.
