The Polar Bear swim is insane, right? I figure starting the year in ice cold water will make the year pretty good because anything bad that happens I can compare to the swim and then the bad thing will seem not so bad.
I was invited to a party, but there will be a lot of people I wont know and I hate that so I will stay home. I am a little injured or I would be doing the midnight run in Central Park, I have done that for years.
Do you have plans lined up for the 1st?

Football - food - family - football - fun - football - and if there is time more football. I think there are like 10 BCS Bowl games on New Year's Day, sadly the championship game isn't until Jan. 10th. Go Ducks!!!!
Do you have a good New Year's Resolution you can stick to?

I never make resolutions, so no.
Do you have any plans for New Year's Day?

Interested in watching the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl BCS Bowl games, but other than that, have some really good movies lined up to watch.
Will the weather direct you in what you plan for New Year's Eve and Day??

Not really, I already planned to stay home. Do you plan to do any shopping on New Year's Day?
Post by Midge on Jan 2, 2011 4:44:22 GMT -6
No, I had no plans to go shopping. We stayed in and watched the Rose Parade instead.
If you had a Christmas tree this year, when are you planning to take it down?

Post by dvdjunkie on Jan 2, 2011 10:14:43 GMT -6
As part of the family New Year's Eve party, we take down the tree after dinner and sometime before midnight.
Do you have any gifts that need to be exchanged?

No, thankfully.
Do you ever order clothing online?

Are you kidding? Without the ability to shop on line I would be naked! lol
Did you give or get any handmade presents?
Post by annavandenhazel on Jan 3, 2011 16:24:49 GMT -6
Yes, I gave a knit dishtowel and napkin rings to my partner in a Christmas exchange on another online group, and she sent me me a dark purple crocheted scarf & hat set.
Do you like getting handmade presents?

Post by Midge on Jan 9, 2011 3:52:56 GMT -6
Sometimes. I like handmade gifts as long as they are edible. Who did you last speak to on the telephone?

My son, on his cell phone.
Who did you last send an e-mail or hand-written letter to?

I just finished sending an e-mail to someone with whom I work.
Do you have what would politely be called any eccentricities?
Post by annavandenhazel on Jan 18, 2011 15:31:29 GMT -6
Hopefully not to eccentric, but some people have a problem with me talking to myself and inanimate objects. I say it's not a problem unless I start getting answers from the inanimate objects. Are you known among your peers for anything unusual?

Yes, I am known as an extreme night owl as I can seldom get to sleep before 3 am or awake before 11.
What would you do if you won the lottery?

First, pay off the house and any outstanding credit card bills, and put whatever's left in savings. I don't have very exciting wants and needs. Do you have plans for Valentine's Day?

Can't divulge what they are here because she might be reading this. But I never forget my darling wife of 40 years on Valentine's Day.
What family plans do you have for Easter break?
Post by Midge on Jan 23, 2011 4:21:24 GMT -6
The only thing I have planned is for the night before Easter. I live on a mountain that has an 109-foot cement cross on top. It is the highest point in San Francisco. Every Easter Sunday there is a sunrise service held underneath the cross, which has an expansive view of the City. The night before, the cross is lit. It is an amazing thing to see, as bright as the moon, and I look forward to seeing it every year.
Do you have any tastes that might be considered unusual?

Grated cheese with ketchup (eaten with a fork) - I know it's weird, but it's a good snack when there's nothing else available. Have you ever been talked into trying a weird-sounding food and liked it?

A friend of mine talked me into trying Campbell's Pork & Beans with chunky pineapple cooked along with it - you know, Beans & Pineapple :jump: :jump: - that's what I thought, but hey it's not bad, not something I would have on a regular basis, but I would try it again. What is your favorite type of pancake?

Plain or buttermilk pancakes - then you can add whatever you want on top. Do you like French toast?

Yes, I make mine with dark rum. :drunk:
Do you read the newspaper, or do you get all your news on line and on TV?

I hardly ever see a newspaper (we quit subscribing because half the time it went in the trash without being touched), so most of the time I get news from the radio or online.
What is your favorite online news source?

My opening page on my 'puter is Fox News.
Do you have regular sites you 'just have to go to' every day on your computer?

Yahoo and Excite (I have e-mail both places), Facebook, and of course Larry's 66 Diner. Is there a particular organization/person you dread getting e-mails from?
Post by Midge on Feb 15, 2011 3:37:25 GMT -6
Yes, I get e-mails from Borders Books every day announcing sales, coupons, two-for-one offers, etc. I don't mind hearing from them once in a while, but please -- not every single day of my life!
What is the last CD you listened to?
Post by annavandenhazel on Feb 15, 2011 9:04:29 GMT -6
Listening to Styx Greatest Hits right now.
Do you own any 8-track tapes?
Post by dvdjunkie on Feb 16, 2011 8:24:05 GMT -6
Unfortunately, yes!! I even own an 8-track recorder, also. Do you have a cassette player or CD player in your automobile?
Post by Midge on Feb 16, 2011 15:41:19 GMT -6
Yes, but the CD/cassette player is dead. It doesn't seem worthwhile to fix or replace it as the car is 18 years old. The AM/FM radio still works. What is your weather like today? It's rainy and windy here.

Very cold - we had a wild windstorm and snowstorm last night that knocked out the power, but the roads were surprisingly dry this morning. There's still snow everywhere else though.
