At this particular time I would like to meet Barry Manilow in person. I have talked with him on the phone, but never in person.

What is your idea of the perfect summer day?
|
|
|

Clear blue sky, very little wind, and temperatures in low to middle 80's would be perfect, and NO humidity, which would be a blessing.
What would your perfect day be like?

I would have a pancake and egg breakfast at Chloe's, a cafe not far from here. Then Al and I would drive across the Golden Gate Bridge to the Wine Country, visit some wineries, have a leisurely lunch and check in at a country inn with a pool, spa and restaurant where We would browse in a bookstore after dinner, watch a movie and then turn in for the night.
If you could have any talent that you don't have now, what would it be?

I would like to learn to play a 12-string Classical Guitar. I love the sound of that instrument and play my "air guitar" all the time when I am playing that type of music.

None, because I wouldn't feel capable of doing a good job.

How do you drink your coffee?

Post by dvdjunkie on Jun 20, 2012 7:21:53 GMT -6
I don't drink coffee. If it tasted as good as it smells then I might be a coffee drinker, but since it has such a rancid taste I drink Hot or Iced Tea.
What is your favorite vegetable?

What is your favourite filling for a chocolate?

|
|
Post by Midge on Jun 21, 2012 16:19:30 GMT -6
My favorite chocolate filling is chocolate. I'd rather have a solid piece with no filling at all. I consider fillings and additives to be a sneaky way of giving you more cheap ingredients and less chocolate for your money.
Do you own any classical music recordings?

"Grand Canyon Suite" is the only thing I own that is close to being considered classical music. This version is by the Boston Pops Orchestra with Arthur Feidler conducting.

His name was "Muggsy", and he was a mixed breek dog that we found at the pound. What a neat dog. He was easy to train, and easy to play with and he always knew when it was his time to go to bed. Loved that little guy.

My first pet was a blue parakeet named Tweety who was very tame and would follow my mother all over the house. After she washed and set her hair with bobby pins, he liked to land on her head and pull them out, one by one. He also was fascinated by the the sewing machine and would stand next to the needle, watching it going up and down when she was sewing and sometimes getting bopped on the head. Another time he fell into the dishwater and got covered by soapsuds! To this day I love blue parakeets because they remind me of Mom.
What was your first job?

I had a paper route when I was a senior in High School. I had to get up at 4 a.m. and deliver my papers. Needless to say I was in bed early on school nights. I made about $65 a month, which back then was like a million dollars to a kid.

The boy who sat in front of me in English class asked me to the movies. We went to see "Mary Poppins" and he held my hand in the movie theater, what a thrill that was for a 15-year-old!

I took 'my first date' to Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena and we sat on our sleeping bags as we got our best seats to see the Rose Parade. We lovingly tell everyone that our first date was in the gutters of Pasadena. Did you go to your Senior Prom?

No, I didn't go. My steady boyfriend, Bill, was a devout Southern Baptist who didn't believe in dancing. Instead, we got dressed up and went to San Francisco. He bought me an orchid at a flower stand, we had dinner, went to a movie and then rode the cable car to Fisherman's Wharf. I had a great time and didn't feel as if I'd missed anything.
Did you go to any dances when you were in high school?
|
|

Post by dvdjunkie on Jul 4, 2012 9:44:02 GMT -6
Rarely missed a school dance. Remember this was the fifties and taking a girl out for dinner and then a school dance didn't cost much more than $20.
Did you ever hold a Student Body office when you were in High School?

Post by Midge on Jul 4, 2012 17:28:07 GMT -6
No, I was much too shy and introverted to be a student leader, but I played in the band and orchestra and wrote for the school paper.
Do you like fireworks shows?
|
|
|
Post by dvdjunkie on Jul 5, 2012 8:52:11 GMT -6
Fireworks are totally legal here in Kansas, and so my son-in-law budgets about $50 to be spent of some really nice ones, and this year was truly sthe first year that Zach (7) and Tymber (4) weren't hiding under their bed during all the noise. It was fun watching our little show and most of the neighborhood shows that were going on. At 11 pm it was all over and the noise went away. This morning I got out the broom and a box and went out and swept up all the debris.
What did you do to celebrate the 4th of July?
|
|
|
Post by Midge on Jul 5, 2012 17:23:50 GMT -6
We stayed in and watched the fireworks shows on TV. I put some hot dogs on the griddle and served them with homemade potato salad, maple sugar beans and corn on the cob. Dessert was cherry pie a la mode. It was a chilly 63 degrees outside, typical for a San Francisco Fourth of July. :nervous:
What was your high temperature today?

Currently it is 98 and headed for a record high of 108 by 4 pm this afternoon. Heat index is supposed to be above the healthy range (110-115) so I will probably be a good boy and stay inside with the air conditioning.
Do you have an outdoor kitchen (grill, table & chairs, etc.)??
