27, I just counted them.
Were any Christmas cards that were meant for someone else delivered to your home?

No, there hasn't been any misdelivered mail this Christmas season.
Did you take a vitamin today?

Yes, along with all the other Rx medications that my doctor has prescribed.
Now that we are in the New Year are there any changes you are looking forward to?

There isn't anything in particular that comes to mind except that in December I will become eligible for Medicare and my health insurance costs will go way down. Do you know anyone who has a birthday this month? (Besides Elvis Presley, that is. )

I can't think of anyone and if there is someone I won't be able to send them a card because I can't remember them. Do you know anyone who was born on Christmas Day?

No, but my stepsister's son was born on Christmas Eve and her younger brother was born on New Year's Eve. (She herself was born on Halloween).
Are there any leftover holiday goodies at your house?

Yes. There is still a big plate of Chocolate Chip cookies that were made for a "make-believe" New Year's Eve party that our five-year-old grand daughter was going to have with all her friends (most of them make believe also). Tymber set up her table and chairs and had a setting for six of her friends and planned on having a 'nothing but Chocolate Chip cookies because they are my favorite' party.
What travel plans do you have this year?
Post by Midge on Jan 3, 2013 18:35:28 GMT -6
No travel plans as my husband has health issues and prefers to stay close to home. However my stepsister and I might go up to Lake Tahoe again if schedules permit and her daughter's house is available.
Did you do anything fun on New Year's Eve?

We played, as a family, the kids' newest board game "Lego Star Wars Monopoly" and had lots of fun. Kept the kids involved until we all paused to go outside at midnite and bang our pots and pans while we marched around the front yard, to celebrate the New Year.
What's one thing Santa didn't bring you this year that you might just have to spend an afternoon shopping for?

Post by Midge on Jan 4, 2013 18:14:42 GMT -6
Santa didn't bring me any colognes, only soaps and scented bath gel, so I might treat myself to a bottle of something nice.
What is the nicest gift you gave to someone else?

We had a friend of ours who is into Collage's and we had him make up a photo collage of the two grandkids from birth to most recent birthday, and gave it to my daughter and son-in-law for Christmas. First time I have seen my son-in-law without words to say.
What was the silliest Christmas gift you have ever received?
Post by Midge on Jan 5, 2013 18:02:30 GMT -6
The silliest has got to be the personalized "snowman trio" my stepsister Carol gave me this year. It's one of those resin figures that's supposed to look like ceramic but it's really plastic. Three snowmen are perched on top of each other. Each one holds up a sign. One says "Midge," the other two say "Carol" and "Sandy." (Those are the names of my two stepsisters.) I really dislike useless knick-knacks. But because it's personalized, I can't even give it to the Goodwill. What was the silliest gift you received (for Christmas or otherwise)?

Someone must have taken me at my word that I am still a kid at heart because one of my friends gave me some 'Phineas and Ferb' slippers. If you don't know who P&F are, they are the hit cartoon series on the Disney Channel.
Are you ready for Winter to be over with?

Post by Midge on Jan 6, 2013 18:57:28 GMT -6
Yes, although winters are mild here I am ready for the days to get longer.
Did you forget something recently?
Post by dvdjunkie on Jan 7, 2013 15:30:47 GMT -6
Not recently, but just before Christmas I left the package I had purchased on the counter and didn't realize what I had done until about three hours later. I went back to the store (Super Target) and showing my receipt and proof of identification I was able to retrieve what I had purchased.
Have you had any thoughts about moving in the past few months?
Post by Midge on Jan 7, 2013 15:45:39 GMT -6
Yes and no. I always fantasize about what it would be like to live in different places, but I don't think I would seriously consider leaving San Francisco.
Have you or anyone in your family had a cold or the flu this season?

Post by dvdjunkie on Jan 8, 2013 8:30:49 GMT -6
Beverly got a mild case of the flu right after she got her flu shot, but since then we have been flu-free!
Have you ever gone shopping for a certain item, and then come home and find out that you forgot to get what you went out for?
Post by Midge on Jan 8, 2013 19:10:36 GMT -6
That happens to me all the time when I grocery shop. I buy a bunch of stuff and then forget the one item I really need. What were your favorite childhood toys?
Post by dvdjunkie on Jan 9, 2013 11:24:01 GMT -6
Lincoln Logs and Tinkertoys.
Do you still have something from your childhood in collection of things?

Yes, I have a storybook doll, some of my drawings, and my childhood Bible.
Do you remember your first kiss?
Post by dvdjunkie on Jan 10, 2013 9:21:43 GMT -6
Yes I do. It was my first date with a girl that I had been friends with in Junior High School, and at the first High School dance, I asked her to go to the dance with me, and when I took her home, SHE kissed me - really good I might add - and I thought I was totally in love. But that was the last time we did anything together, so I never got another one from her.
Do you remember your first school dance?
Post by Midge on Jan 10, 2013 17:47:41 GMT -6
Yes, because it was my first and last school dance. I was 13 and I was in Junior High School. I was awkward, nerdy and shy and had never been asked on a date. But I had a crush on a good-looking boy named Grant in my Spanish class who was going to the dance. So I bought a ticket and I asked him to sign my dance card. He put his name down for dance number seven. My dad drove me to the dance that night and dropped me off. I stood against the wall throughout the entire evening in my prettiest dress, waiting for dance number seven. The rest of my dance card was blank. Well, you can guess what happened. Grant never showed up. I was crushed! In high school I actually did have a boyfriend, but we didn't go to any of the dances because he was a devout Southern Baptist. What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was really young I foresaw that we would all be living on another planet and I would be a pilot on a space cruiser that took people back and forth in their journeys. As I got older I realized how much of a fantasy that was and set my sites on being a Disc Jockey, a vision which I did complete and spend over 20 years in the business and have a lot of great memories from it.
Do you remember your very first job?
Post by Midge on Jan 11, 2013 16:46:53 GMT -6
Yes, I worked as a clerk in an offset print shop. I waited on customers, did some typing and made Xerox copies (when Xerox machines were rare, slow, big and clunky). The pay wasn't much but I was proud to be making money of my own for the first time.
Do you remember the first record you ever bought?
Post by dvdjunkie on Jan 12, 2013 10:13:36 GMT -6
Most certainly. The first record I bought was a 78 rpm record by Spike Jones and his City Slickers, and the title was "The Clink Clink Polka". Within a week after I bought that record I got another Spike Jones record called "Hawaiian War Chant". And thus began my favorite hobby - collecting records, and then I started with movies.

Yes, it was an Enrico Caruso LP. I used to have to wait until my parents were out of the house to play it because they didn't like opera.
Are you a good cook?
Post by dvdjunkie on Jan 15, 2013 8:49:21 GMT -6
I don't get to cook that often but when I do everyone likes the food. I use a lot of pans and have lots of dishes to clean up afterwards. I need to work on that part and multi-task when I am cooking. My favorite thing to cook is Spencer Steak with a Lemon-garlic sauce with freshly mashed potatoes and green beans on the side. Never a complaint when I cook this dish.
Do you get to show your skills in the kitchen very often?
Post by Midge on Jan 15, 2013 19:53:39 GMT -6
Yes, I cook dinner at home four or five times a week, though I usually prefer dishes that don't require a lot of ingredients or fussing over.
Have you ever ridden in, or driven, a convertible?
