Yes, I have a couple of those, although I try to keep items in approximately the same locations within the drawer so I can find them. My first husband used to get on my case for just throwing items in a drawer haphazardly. He said that in the Navy he learned "There's a place for everything, and everything in its place." At the time I resented the criticism, but as years have passed I'm becoming more like him.

Only in the military. I really don't approve of the new conceal & carry laws here in the USA. That's just me, but if you make that many enemies that you need to carry a gun, then you should change how you approach people, and apologize to those that you have wronged. There are people who will not go to restaurants or events where they don't let you carry a gun inside. I really think it is unnecessary.
Have you ever tried to ride a unicycle?

Yes, I tried it once and failed miserably. (Agree with you about concealed carry laws.)

Yes, and like you, I failed miserably. It was only nine inches off the ground, and I just couldn't get the balance right.
Do you remember the last time you went camping?

Yes, it was in 1971!

The last time in a tent was 2010. The last time in a spacious RV (not camping in my book) was 2011. I love going out to the backwoods and pitching a tent, and cooking meals over an open fire. There is nothing to compare it to.
Do you have any hobbies (quilting, scrapbooking, collectibles, etc.)?

No, I don't do any of the craft type of hobbies, although I used to do counted cross-stitch.

No. Don't understand why anyone wants to jump out of a perfectly good airplane.
Have you ever done something that someone dared you to do?

Probably yes, but it would have been when I was a child, the person daring me was probably my big brother, and I don't remember what it was.
How about you? Have you ever taken someone up on a dare?

Many years ago. While in high school, I had a crush on this one girl, but was too shy to even to talk to her. One day at an Assembly she was sitting right in front of me, and I had several friends who dared me to lean over and kiss her on the cheek. I did. I got slapped. I got sent to the Principal's office and given 5-hours of detention. Funny thing is when I saw her on the school yard after this 'moment in time' she said hello to me and it was game on again. But that is as far as it went.
Do you have a 'silly' remembrance from your school days?

When I was five years old and in kindergarten, we had a "Show and Tell" day. I was supposed to get up in front of the class and share something about myself. My father put me up to saying, "My daddy is 72 and my mommy is 18." I didn't know what I was saying and didn't realize why those ages would seem odd to anyone. My mother told me that on Parent's Night, the teacher did a double-take when she actually met my parents. (They were in fact 40 and 38 years old at the time.)
Have you ever had to call the police or fire department because of an emergency?

Not since we moved from California to Kansas. In California we had to call the police because our neighbors were fighting so loud in the middle of the night, and then we heard two gunshots, and we called the police. We had new neighbors the following month.

Yes, a few years ago a friend who lives nearby fell in her garage and gashed her forehead pretty badly. I drove her to the ER. It turns out that the hospital we went to only had a pediatric ER, but when they looked at her they decided to take her anyway rather than send us somewhere else.
Are you going to the movies this weekend?

Post by dvdjunkie on Aug 11, 2013 6:54:22 GMT -6
Yes. As a family we went to Disney's "Planes" last night. A really good animated film about the world of Planes, and featuring a crop duster named Dusty, voiced by Dane Cook. As usual the theater was crowded because it was only the second day of release, but it is well worth it to watch and hear our grand kids enjoy this movie. By the way, if you want to see a good film with a great moral at the end, see this movie. "Planes" is family entertainment at its best.
How about you - are you going to the movies sometime this week?

No, I haven't been to the movies in ages. I like classic movies best, and TCM keeps me entertained.

Iced Sun Tea. In fact, that is my 'year-round' favorite beverage.

I enjoy the same snacks pretty much year round: trail mix, string cheese, mandarin oranges, Trader Joe's gorgonzola crackers, peanut butter, and chocolate in any form.

Cool Ranch Doritos, (I can't get enough of them.)
Strawberry/Banana Smoothie (from Orange Julius)
Chex Trail Mix, all varieties (another one of those guilty pleasures.)
Ruffles Potato Chips (with a seven-layer dipping sauce.)
It is hard to narrow down my snacking regime to just four, but those are all at the top of the list.
What snack would be the hardest for you to give up, if you were told to give up one snack?

I think that I'd have the hardest time giving up nuts. I eat them just about every day.

Crunch & Munch was one of the toughest ones I had to give up, when I thought I was diabetic. The sugar content is over the top. Now that I have found out that I am not diabetic, I just haven't had the urge to get back into that snack. One thing that the diabetic scare made me more aware of was the sugar content in some of my favorite snacks. So now I eat them in moderation and it is working a lot better.
Have you tried any of the new flavored water products out there on the market?

Not recently, but in the past I have tried sparkling mineral water with fruit flavors and peppermint water. I have always thought that buying bottled water was a waste of money unless you live somewhere that has nasty-tasting tap water.

I don't subscibe to any at the present time. But my son-in-law gets several that I do read: Entertainment Weekly, 4-Wheeling, Motor Trend, and Off-Road 4-Wheeling.
A good question is always worth repeating:

September 7, 2001 I was one of three bus drivers who took three high school bands to Boston for a competition and then we stopped in New York City to visit the sights. At 11 a.m. on September 7 we were all on the observation tower of the World Trade Center. We all know what happened four days later.

No, I've always wanted to see it but never have. The same goes for Yosemite. Coincidentally I was just reading about guided tours to Grand Canyon and Yosemite through Road Scholar (formerly called Elder Hostel), an organization that offers educational travel opportunities to older adults. Since Al doesn't want to travel, I might sign up for one of these trips.

Midge, look into Coventry Advantra for your supplement. So far it looks to be the best. We are in the middle of getting ready for new Health Reform, and we are currently with Coventry and they will actually come to your home and answer all of your questions about their insurance supplements, and the many other programs they offer.
Our plans for the coming Fall and Winter are about the same. We are responsible for getting both kids off to school. Now that they go to the same school they can walk with their friends. When the weather turns inclement or just not safe to walk, my job will be to drive them the block and a half to school.
What do you remember most about your days in school (including college years)?
